Teenage Mother Accused of Abandoning Newborn Baby in Dumpster
A teenage mother, Everilda Cux-Ajtzalam, 18, allegedly living illegally in the United States, has been accused of throwing her newborn baby into a dumpster in Houston, Texas. The shocking incident took place on July 21, when Cux-Ajtzalam gave birth to a baby boy behind a food truck where she worked.
Heartless Act of Abandonment
According to court documents, Cux-Ajtzalam placed the newborn baby, along with the placenta and umbilical cord, in a garbage bag, tied it up, and then threw the bag into a dumpster at a random apartment building. She callously told investigators that she had “no choice” but to abandon her child in such a cruel manner because she did not want her boyfriend to break up with her.
A Miraculous Discovery
Thankfully, a passerby heard the newborn baby crying and discovered him in the dumpster. The Houston Police Department and emergency medical personnel were able to safely rescue the baby and take him to Texas Children’s Hospital for evaluation. The newborn boy is now in the care of Child Protective Services and is reported to be in good health.
Despite the disturbing circumstances, the child’s survival can be considered nothing short of a miracle.
