Long Island Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Raping Stepdaughter
A Long Island man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for repeatedly raping his young stepdaughter over nearly a decade, officials announced on Monday. The horrific abuse began in 2014 when the girl was 7 years old and escalated to anal rape, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Decade of Agonizing Abuse
Over the course of nearly a decade, the man subjected his stepdaughter to agonizing abuse, sending her obscene photos of herself and asking her to do the same. He even threatened to subject the young girl to more frequent anal rape to force compliance with his demands. The abuse continued until 2023, when the victim, now a teenager, finally disclosed the abuse to her mother.
Justice Served
In a plea deal, the man admitted to first-degree sexual conduct with a child and was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 20 years of supervision upon release by Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen Wilutis. District Attorney Raymond Tierney emphasized that while no punishment can heal the trauma, this sentence ensures the defendant cannot harm the survivor or others.
This case highlights the importance of speaking out against sexual abuse and seeking help through hotlines like the National Sexual Assault Hotline and Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline. It serves as a reminder that perpetrators will be held accountable for their actions, and justice will be served for the victims.
