House Fire in Queens: Four Rescued, Three Seriously Injured
On a Sunday morning in Queens, firefighters bravely rescued four individuals from a house fire, with three of them sustaining life-threatening smoke inhalation injuries. The incident occurred at a two-story brick townhouse on 37th Road at 68th Street in Woodside, according to officials from the FDNY.
Intense Effort to Extinguish the Blaze
At around 7:15 a.m., the fire broke out, prompting approximately 60 firefighters to rush to the scene. It took an hour of hard work to completely extinguish the blaze, which fortunately was contained to the first floor of the house. Michael Woods, deputy assistant chief of the New York Fire Department, commended the efforts of the firefighters in managing the situation.
Injuries and Hospitalizations
Tragically, three residents of the home suffered serious injuries and were rushed to Elmhurst Hospital for immediate medical attention. Additionally, a fourth individual sustained minor injuries, along with two firefighters who were also taken to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment, as confirmed by John Paul Dimen, deputy emergency department director. The severity of the situation was evident in the number of injuries sustained by those involved.
Uncertainty and Concern
As investigations into the cause of the fire began, a man claiming to be the homeowner shared his worries and confusion about the incident. Rushing to the scene upon receiving a call from a neighbor, the man, identified only as John, expressed deep concern for the well-being of all involved, stating, “I’m very worried about everything.” The uncertainty and fear that accompany such traumatic events are not easily shaken off, leaving many with lingering concerns and questions.
