Anti-Muslim Hate Crime in Midtown Manhattan
A man was brutally attacked in Midtown Manhattan on Monday night in what appears to be a hate crime fueled by anti-Muslim sentiments. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was standing in front of a Fifth Avenue office building near 53rd Street when he was approached by a stranger who spewed anti-Muslim slurs at him before physically assaulting him.
The Attack
The victim, who was talking on the phone at the time of the attack, was punched in the face by the assailant. The violent attack left him injured and in need of medical attention. He was quickly transported to NYU Langone Health, where he is currently in stable condition.
Police Investigation
The New York Police Department is actively investigating the incident as a hate crime. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force has taken over the case and is working to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for the attack.
