The Tragic Killing of Queens Rapper Chinx: Guilty Plea in Nine-Year Murder Case
One of two men accused of killing Queens rapper Chinx has pleaded guilty nine years after the murder. Quincy Homere, 39, was charged Monday with first-degree manslaughter, according to The New York Times. He now faces up to 23 years in prison.
The Murder Plot Unfolds
According to police reports, Homere and another man, Jamar Hill, stalked Chinx after his performance at the now-defunct Red Wolf Lounge in Brooklyn in May 2015. The tragic event occurred when Chinx, whose real name is Lionel Pickens, was waiting at a red light in Queens. Two men pulled up next to him, opened fire, and swiftly drove off, leaving Chinx fatally wounded.
A Long Road to Justice
It took law enforcement years to unravel the complexities of the case, with Homere and Hill only being identified as suspects in 2017. Homere, with a history of criminal activities, including a bank robbery, remained incarcerated throughout the investigation. The NYPD revealed that a past altercation between Homere and Chinx at Rikers may have fueled the murderous act.
Seeking Justice for Chinx
Chinx’s widow, Janelli Caceres-Pickens, took to social media to express her desire for more severe charges against Homere. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 12, where she hopes for a harsher punishment. Despite the guilty plea for manslaughter, Caceres-Pickens remains adamant that Homere should spend his life behind bars, considering the loss and devastation caused by the senseless killing of her husband.
